The beginning....

Here it is. I said I'd do it....the start of the summer field camp blog.

The background:
I will be spending 5 weeks in Oregon this summer for a field camp that is required to complete my BS in Geology. This is an intensive class that is in the field 6 days per week (possibly more on certain weeks).

It was a hard choice: 5 weeks of living in a dorm with running water and a real shower each night in Oregon or 5 weeks camping in Montana. DAMN! I'm a fracking wuss. Ok, my hair is just waaaaay too thick to deal with a sun shower every day. I'd hurt someone by week 3. Course, it's costing extra $$ but whatever, that's what American Express was made for. Oh, and a husband that will be working the whole time I'm away.

Between now and when I leave (June 15) I will be putting up pictures and explanations of geologic equipment used in the field for non-geology geeks. (Really, I still have friends that don't believe in licking rocks or putting acid on everything????) Then I'll be able to talk freely about how much I LOVE geologic mapping. (I'm sure you'll understand by the end of July....) I will also add tidbits about the camp and my other wonderful cohorts in crime this summer.

Until next time....
